Dirk Geiger makes strong progress ahead of EURO MOTO season and WSBK wildcard in Assen

Productive test days focused on development

As the start of the 2026 EURO MOTO season approaches, the Valencia and Aragón tests marked an important step in the overall development for Dirk Geiger. With stable conditions, competitive rider groups and a well-structured event by Bikepromotion, the focus was on building confidence and continuing the work from previous tests.

Working together with the full crew of Team APRECO, Geiger was able to complete multiple structured sessions and further develop his understanding of the Yamaha R9.

Building confidence and understanding the package

A key focus for Dirk Geiger during the test days was improving his feeling for the bike, especially in combination with different tyre options and evolving track conditions throughout the sessions. Step by step, he was able to make clear progress and improve his overall consistency on track.

“I felt quite comfortable on the bike and we made some good steps forward,” Geiger explained. 

The structured approach helped him better understand how the Yamaha R9 reacts under different conditions and further build confidence ahead of the season.

Clean test execution as a strong foundation

Across both test locations, Dirk Geiger completed the programme without any incidents, allowing the team to fully focus on development work and consistent improvements.This clean execution provided valuable data and ensured that all planned test items could be completed as intended.

WSBK wildcard opportunity in Assen

Following the strong progress during pre-season testing, Dirk Geiger has been awarded a wildcard entry for the upcoming WSBK round in Assen, where he will compete in the Supersport class.

“It’s a great opportunity for me to compete at this level, and I want to thank Yamaha for the trust and support,” Geiger said. 

The wildcard entry marks an important next step in his development and gives him the chance to measure himself against international competition at one of the most iconic circuits on the calendar.

Strong foundation ahead of the season

With a high amount of track time, consistent conditions and a structured test programme, the Valencia and Aragón tests provided valuable insights for Dirk Geiger and the team. Together with Team APRECO, he now heads into the 2026 EURO MOTO season with increasing confidence and a well-prepared overall package.
