Building confidence with the Yamaha R7
The second round of the EURO MOTO Sportbike season in Brno marked another important step for Max Stauffer and Team APRECO.
The Australian continued his adaptation to the Yamaha R7 and the highly competitive Sportbike category, showing steady progress throughout the weekend.
An additional test day ahead of the event helped Stauffer gain valuable track knowledge and allowed rider and team to arrive better prepared for the Czech circuit.
“It was a pretty good weekend for us on the R7,” Stauffer explained. “I think we made a big step forward.”
At the same time, Stauffer continued adapting his riding style to the demands of the Yamaha R7, compared to the larger superbike machinery he is more familiar with.
“I was able to focus on my riding and adjust some of my riding style for the R7 compared to the R1 that I’m typically on,” he said.

Consistent improvements throughout the weekend
Throughout the weekend, the focus remained on improving the bike’s feeling in cornering and refining the overall package. According to Stauffer, rider and team worked step by step through setup improvements, with lap times improving throughout the sessions.
“Every session we went faster,” Stauffer reflected.
In qualifying, Max Stauffer secured P12 on the grid with a lap time of 2:09.749, giving him a solid starting point for both races.

Valuable race experience in Brno
Race 1 provided another important learning opportunity as Stauffer continued gaining experience aboard the Yamaha R7 in the EURO MOTO Sportbike class.
He crossed the line in P12 in Race 1, finishing 17.348 seconds behind the winner while setting a fastest lap of 2:09.520.
The positive development continued into Race 2, where Stauffer managed to move further forward in the field and improve both pace and consistency.
He finished P10 in Race 2, crossing the line 14.190 seconds behind the race winner and setting his fastest lap of the weekend with a 2:09.033.

Positive progress and focus on further improvement
While the Australian sees clear progress, he remains focused on continuing the development together with the team.
“P10 isn’t where I want to be,” Stauffer admitted. “But we made good progress and I know we can keep improving.”
With 15 championship points, Max Stauffer currently sits 12th in the overall EURO MOTO Sportbike standings, as the focus now shifts towards continuing the development at the upcoming rounds.
